Summer School

Enrollment for the 2024 Summer Enrichment Program has ended.  All classrooms have been filled.  Please check back next March for 2025 summer enrollment or consider our “Lift Them Up” tutoring program.

You do not need to be a member of ORMBC nor live in KCK to enroll.

Summer School Program

The Oak Ridge Experience

  • 7:00 – 8:00 Before School Care
  • 8:00 – 8:30 Breakfast
  • 8:30 – 9:00 Harambee
  • 9:00 –11:30 Academic Block – Imagine Learning “My Path” Reading and Math, Independent Reading, Integrated Writing.
  • 11:30 – 12:30 Lunch and Outdoor Activities
  • 12:30 – 2:00 Integrated Health Curriculum (Swimming, Kids in the Kitchen, Physical Fitness)
  • 1:45 – 2:45 Integrated Educational Curriculum (STREAM, Character Counts, Entrepreneurship, Chess)
  • 1:45 – 2:45 Empowerment Zone (6th – 8th Grade)
  • 2:50 – 3:00 Afternoon Snack
  • 3:00 – Dismissal
  • 3:00 – 5:00 After School Care

MOCSA

Join your group for age specific lessons in safe adults, body positivity, healthy relationships of all types, and consent.

MO-KAN Pet Partners

Interact with the registered therapy teams to improve your reading and social emotional skills.

BikeWalkKC

Take lessons in riding, traffic safety, and repairs for 3rd-8th graders.

JuneteenthKC

Join ORYDS in creating a float and ride in the parade on June 1st.  Enjoy musical guests at the Juneteenth Heritage Festival while learning about our celebration for the emancipation of slaves in America in 1865.

Exceeds Expectations

Learn about financial literacy and how to prepare for your successful future.

Kansas City Jazz Orchestra

Enjoy learning about jazz during breakfast and lunch and try out a few notes yourself.

Kansas City Community Gardens

Learn how to grown your own vegetables, make salsa, and engage in our entrepreneurship program.

Empowerment Zone

6th-8th graders, improve your academic success and community involvement with mentors from KC. 

Entrepreneurship

Participate this interactive program where you will develop, design, and test new business models and concepts to market and manage your own business.

Fees

Program cost is $400 for the first scholar and $350 for all other scholars in the same household. Before and After Care fee is $200 per family. The enrollment deposit is $100 per scholar (non-refundable). The deposit will be deducted off of your scholars registration fee if they attend the summer program.

Payment Options

We have gotten rid of those long payment lines. You can now pay online!

Once you have completed your enrollment packet including all of the required state forms, and they have been approved, we will send you a special payment link (easy tithes) via email. You will be able to make your payment electronically.

That link will be your own specialized link so you can make payments anytime you choose.

No payments will be accepted until the enrollment packet has been received and approved.

PAYMENT OPTIONS:
Checks, money orders, debit, or credit cards are accepted. Checks should be made out to Oak Ridge Youth Development School (ORYDS)*

Scholarship

There are partial scholarships available until the funds are extinguished. Anyone wishing to apply for scholarships for their child must pay the initial $30 per scholar. For additional scholarship information please contact Charlie Jennings at cjennings@ormbc.org.
